Finally a hope and intention that I will find time this
summer to realise some of the sculptures that I have in my
head and in buckets in my garage. Old spoons, paint
brushes, rusty metal and glass marbles. The work that I did
on assignment 3 pointed me back towards my own work, and
partly to that end I spent a lot of time at Easter clearing
cleaning and organising my work space in preparation.
Another motivation is the new build at Sidcot, with it's
phenomenal potential as an exhibition space. I plan to
stage a large exhibition for the opening of the building in
November. I suspect that the organisation of this
exhibition will become the main focus of my attention over
the coming months. The school celebrates 200 years with the
opening of a major new facility. we have photos of an
exhibition of 1908. I have approached artists who have had
past connection with the school, the sculptor Nicholas
Dimbleby, the film makers Nick Broomfield and perhaps Tim
Bevan. There was even talk at some point of getting Judi
Dench to officiate. I have approached many other artists
with school connections, but also plan that the current art
teachers work should be on display, an added incentive to
get some done over the summer. I am quite keen to get back
into creating, finding the creative energy that I know I
have in abundance if I allow it time.
