These images are the result of an afternoon's drawing conversation, back an forth, on mobile phones.
The game was played between, Derick Welsh (who is Associate Drawing Fellow at Wimbledon College of Art) his partner Jane McCourt, and myself.
The game started with a the text, a message inspired by thoughts of my partner:
'22 years together is pretty special, not all easy time, but some pretty sepcial memories. A relationship with the specail patina of shared expereince, good, bad, and just life.'
The following words from Derick are taken from a Reuters article on MMS:
"The touch has tipped, and drawing messaging is where touch leads... Fine art drawing and painting are drenched in tradition, but all children draw — as with the transformation that is happening to the rules of photography, the overwhelming majority of people who now take photographs no longer consider themselves photographers... One day maybe the use of drawing will change as children grow up with drawing as an instant communication option.” Link to Source accessed 4/6/10
